We are currently seeking a skilled Fire Protection Consultant with path to professional engineer licensure, responsible for project management, technical work product development, and business development in the Salt Lake City, Utah area.

What to Expect:
The successful candidate will provide clients with exceptional fire protection engineering and life safety code consulting services. Anticipated roles and responsibilities for this position include:
- Perform fire protection engineering services such as life safety code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, and performance-based fire engineering design for a wide-range of facility types in jurisdictions across the United States.
- Coordinate and conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.
- Classify hazardous chemicals and prepare hazardous materials inventory statements for industrial properties.
- Assess high-piled storage arrangements and develop associated reports for high-piled storage permits.
- Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
- Prepare and peer review of project-related technical reports.
- Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client design issues.
- Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others.
- Assist with business development activities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and/or Civil engineering.
- We will also consider candidates that have significant industry experience in fire protection, life safety, or code consulting but are not on the engineering track.
- EIT Certification preferred.
- PE preferred.
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of related experience.
- Ability to work well independently to meet deadlines and prepare deliverables to be peer reviewed.
- Upholds professionalism and is personable when interacting with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities.
- Strong communication skills to communicate clearly and concisely with others internally and externally.
- Must be able to coordinate with professionals across multiple disciplines internally and externally. Prior history with project management is preferred, but not required.

We are currently seeking an Entry Level Fire Protection Consultant located in our Las Vegas office to join the ACS team. The ideal candidate is passionate about fire protection engineering and looking for a professional environment that fosters development and growth.

Fire Protection Consultant (Entry Level) – Las Vegas, NV
What to Expect:
The successful candidate will provide clients with exceptional fire protection engineering and life safety code consulting services. Anticipated roles and responsibilities for this position include:
- Assist in the design of fire alarm, sprinkler, standpipe, and special hazard systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation tools.
- Perform building and fire code analyses to determine occupancy classification, construction type, and fire-resistance requirements.
- Conduct hazard mitigation analyses and assist in identifying appropriate fire protection strategies for unique conditions.
- Draft fire protection and life safety reports, code summaries, and technical narratives in support of design and permitting.
- Support egress calculations, occupant load determinations, and life safety compliance reviews.
- Conduct field assessments to document existing fire protection systems and evaluate code compliance.
- Review architectural and MEP drawings to coordinate fire/life safety impacts and design integration.
- Participate in submittal reviews, construction observations, and coordination with clients, contractors, and AHJs.
- Be able to perform basic calculations (i.e., size required means of egress, maximum allowable building area, sprinkler system water supplies and smoke control equipment).
- Be able to research and identify applicable codes and standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and/or Civil engineering or on track to graduate from an ABET-accredited program in Fire Protection, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Fire Safety Engineering Technology.
- Strong technical background.
- 0-3 years of professional experience.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Knowledge of BlueBeam, AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Attendance and participation in local professional organizations
- Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities.
- Experience with data centers, automotive/battery manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, and other industrial facilities is a plus.

What to Expect:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide clients with exceptional fire protection engineering and life safety code consulting services. Anticipated roles and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in Designing Fire Protection Systems: Support the design of fire alarm, sprinkler, and smoke control systems using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Perform Code Research: Research and interpret relevant fire and building codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC, IFC) to assist in code compliance evaluations.
- Drafting and Plan Preparation: Prepare construction documents, schematic designs, and layout drawings under the supervision of a fire protection engineer.
- Attend Site Visits or Inspections: Accompany engineers to job sites to gather field data, observe installations, or assist with inspections.
- Assist in Report Writing and Documentation: Prepare technical reports and documentation related to system design, testing, or code studies.
- Participate in Project Coordination: Collaborate with other disciplines (MEP, architectural, structural) during design coordination meetings and project planning.
- Learn Industry Standards and Tools: Gain familiarity with relevant software, codes, and professional practices in fire protection engineering.
- Administrative and Organizational Support: Help organize project files, maintain drawing sets, and support engineers with day-to-day project tasks.
What We’re Looking For:
- Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and/or Civil engineering.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Familiarity with BlueBeam, AutoCAD, or Revit will be beneficial.
